From the Chair

Sam Lam, MD, MPH, FACEP

I just returned home this week from the ACEP25 Scientific Assembly in Salt Lake City. It was a hectic four days, where the EUS organized a series of meetings and didactics, after a lot of preparation work from the executive committee and other team members. During these meetings, I met many old acquaintances and made several new friends, and many exciting ideas were exchanged. I came back feeling a bit physically exhausted but mentally energized. My proverbial cup has been filled for the next 12 months.

Once again, I got to witness the amazing passion, motivation, innovation, and creativity of our Section members. Thanks to the high-quality products from our 17 subcommittees, the EUS has once again won this year’s ACEP Service to Section Award. This newsletter you are reading has won the ACEP Outstanding Section Newsroom Content Award (shout-out to Laura Oh and Megan Hilbert). During our annual business meeting, we also recognized our Section award winners and Section members who have won individual ACEP National Teaching Awards this year (see related article in this newsletter). Speaking of creativity, I would encourage everyone to watch the 2-minute video challenge submissions featured in this issue of the newsletter. All of them are educational and highly entertaining. The audience-selected winning entry can almost pass as a professional movie trailer.

To showcase some of the most amazing products of our subcommittees, I have put together a curated collection of emergency ultrasound resources and content that are not directly posted on our subcommittee web pages. To download them please use the QR code below.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as Chair of the Section. I sincerely hope that what we did over the past year has helped elevate your emergency ultrasound practice in one way or another.
