The purpose of the Ambassador Program is to provide ACEP leaders and staff with access to a special network of internationally-oriented member experts who can provide advice and information on issues pertaining to the progress and status of emergency medicine in their assigned countries, and to serve as official representatives of the College to those countries.

These individuals provide a unique contribution to this program and are to be congratulated and recognized for their promotion of the global growth and success of our specialty.

Ambassador Leadership Award

Brief Description

The award will be given to an Ambassador who has led the advancement of emergency medicine in a region or globally through leadership activities in the region or at the organizational level.

Criteria

  • Has being a country ambassador in some capacity for over 10 years
  • Has a strong presence in a region or globally
  • Has led the development of EM in a significant and measurable way
  • Has submitted annual country reports
  • Has attended the annual Ambassador Conference regularly

Selection Process

Ambassadors may nominate and self-nominate a lead, deputy, liaison, and representative who has exhibited the aforementioned qualities and has met the criteria. The Ambassador committee will review and select winners.

Individual Achievement Award

Brief Description

The award will be given to the Ambassador who has advanced emergency medicine in a country or a region through his presence in country, diplomacy, and partnership with the emergency physicians and local society(ies).

Criteria

  • Has been a country ambassador program participant in some capacity for over 5 years
  • Has a strong presence in Country
  • Has submitted annual country reports
  • Has attended the annual Ambassador Conference regularly
  • Has led the development of EM in a significant and measurable way

Selection Process

Ambassadors may nominate and self-nominate a lead, deputy, liaison, and representative who has exhibited the aforementioned qualities and has met the criteria. The Ambassador committee will review and select a winner.

Citizenship Award

Brief Description

The award will be given to the Ambassador who exemplifies the values of a dedication, commitment, and reliability to meet his roles and responsibilities as an ambassador.

Criteria

  • Has mentored resident, liaison, deputy, and in country physicians
  • Has had quarterly contact with the assigned country or organization
  • Has submitted annual country report
  • Has attended the annual Ambassador Conference, when held, at least one time during their 2-year term, and being a significant contributor to the conference
  • Has taken the lead in coordinating efforts for their assigned country or organization

Selection Process

Ambassadors may nominate and self-nominate a lead, deputy, liaison, and representative who has exhibited the aforementioned qualities and has met the criteria. The Ambassador committee will review and select a winner.

Liaison Award

Brief Description

The award will be given to the Ambassador who exemplifies the values of a dedication, commitment, and reliability to meet his roles and responsibilities as an ambassador liaison.

Criteria

  • Has been an in-country partner
  • Has been a part of country development and leadership
  • Has attended the annual Ambassador Conference

Selection Process

Ambassadors may nominate and self-nominate a lead, deputy, liaison, and representative who has exhibited the aforementioned qualities and has met the criteria. The Ambassador committee will review and select a winner.

Trainee Award

Brief Description

The award will be give to a trainee who displays great enthusiasm for the ACEP Ambassador program and has played a notable role in the Ambassador program operations and/or in a ACEP Ambassador Program Country delegation’s work.

Criteria

  • Is a current medical student, EM resident, or EM fellow
  • Has been a part of an ACEP Ambassador Program project whether based in the US or abroad
  • Has attended the annual Ambassador Conference

Selection Process

Ambassadors may nominate a trainee who has exhibited the aforementioned qualities and has met the criteria. The Ambassador committee will review and select a winner.
