Nicholas Genes

MD, FACEP

Nicholas Genes, MD PhD, is Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and Director of EM Informatics at the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine at NYU Langone Health. He has published and presented nationally on EHR usability, emergency-physician interaction with health IT, and extracting electronic data for disaster preparedness. A certified Epic Physician Builder, Dr. Genes leads system-wide initiatives that use decision support and advanced analytics to improve care and identify at-risk cohorts. As Program Director of NYUGSOM’s ACGME-accredited Clinical Informatics Fellowship, he developed a curriculum emphasizing data governance, EHR mining, and workflow-driven quality improvement. His current research applies large language models to improve the quality of patient care and clinician efficiency.
