MD, FACEP

Stephen H. Anderson, MD, FACEP, has spent 35 years practicing emergency medicine in South Seattle at the MultiCare Auburn Medical Center in Washington. He earned his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor and completed his surgical critical care residency at the University of Washington in Seattle. At MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, he has served as chair of trauma, stroke, and education; chair of emergency medicine; and chief of staff. Dr. Anderson was named Physician of the Year in Seattle by the American Heart Association. He received an award for Innovation in Suicide Prevention from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and ACEP as well as Spokesperson of the Year and Lifetime Communications from ACEP.  He has volunteered for ACEP for many years, serving on the Board of Directors as both treasurer and chair of the board and as chair of the Emergency Medicine Foundation. He currently serves as the chair for the ACEP Exploring Retirement Section and also the chair of the Naloxone Project. Dr. Anderson is the winner of the 2025 John A. Rupke Legacy Award for Lifetime Contributions to ACEP.
