Ramnik “Ricky” Dhaliwal is a JD, MD and a dual trained Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine physician, a JD, and a partner at Carepoint which is a multispecialty physician owned group based out of Denver, Colorado but that serves communities in over 20 states. He is the director of one the level 1 trauma centers in Denver, Swedish Medical Center and also is the Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs for Carepoint. He is currently the chair of the ACEP State Legislative and Regulatory is past President of Colorado ACEP, Chair of the Colorado Medical Society Council on Legislation, is currently on the CO ACEP Board and Legislative Committee and serves on the Federal Government Affairs Committee. He has been an important voice in physician advocacy in the state of Colorado and has helped develop COACEP as one of the go voices for medicine in the state of Colorado for legislators.

He did his undergraduate here at the George Washington University in Business and Computer Science. After working in the tech industry for a few years after college, he went back to school and did a combined MD/JD at CU Med and CU Law schools. He then went on to complete a dual program in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center where he was on faculty for 3 years. Now back in Colorado, he is a partner at Carepoint. which is a multispecialty physician owned group based out of Denver, Colorado but that serves communities in over 20 states. He is the director of one the level 1 trauma centers in Denver, Swedish Medical Center and also is the Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs for Carepoint.
Outside of his clinical work, Ricky has continued to participate in leadership work. He has served as President of the Emergency Medicine Resident’s Association, President of CO ACEP, and as a member of ACEP Federal government Affairs committee, Finance Committee, and the Medical Legal Committee. He is currently the chair of the State Legislative and Regulatory Committee and Chair of Colorado Medical Societies’ Legislative Affairs Committee. He has worked on drafting legislation at the state level related to batching and has helped change and amend language on many other pieces of legislation. Through this work he has become been a trusted voice at the Colorado State Capital.
