Earned his M.D. from UC Irvine School of Medicine in 2019. 

Completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at UC San Diego Health from 2019 to 2023, and served as Chief Resident his final year.

Completed his Clinical Informatics Fellowship in Emergency Medicine at UC San Diego Health from 2023 to 2025.

In 2025 joined the UC San Diego Health Department of Emergency Medicine Faculty.

Dr. Kahl practices clinical emergency medicine in all three UC San Diego Health Emergency Departments, and at the VA Hospital in La Jolla. He also practices clinical telehealth in the UC San Diego Health UCSD@Home ED to Home transition of care program in collaboration with population health services.
