Robert James Adrian, MD, FPD-AEMUS, has served as a section editor for PEERcert+ Advanced Ultrasound for the Focused Practice Designation (FPD) in Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography (AEMUS) since 2025. Dr. Adrian is currently working as a community medicine emergency physician at Saint Anthony Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Adrian earned his doctor of medicine degree and a master of science in health administration from Chicago Medical School. Dr. Adrian completed his emergency medicine residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, and he completed his emergency ultrasound fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He achieved the AEMUS FPD from the American Board of Emergency Medicine while working as a fellow in emergency medicine at Christchurch Hospital in New Zealand.
Dr. Adrian has received local, national, and international awards, including the Society of Emergency Medicine Academy of Emergency Ultrasound (SAEM AEUS) Resident Education Award. Dr. Adrian has lectured globally on emergency ultrasound topics, and he has published several peer-reviewed studies, reviews, and book chapters in emergency ultrasound. His academic expertise includes critical care echocardiography and gastric ultrasound.
