Daniel Kim, MD, FRCPC

Daniel Kim, MD, FRCPC, has served as a section editor for PEERcert+ Advanced Ultrasound for the Focused Practice Designation in Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography (AEMUS) since 2025. Dr. Kim is currently the POCUS fellowship director and a clinical associate professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and is a staff emergency physician at Vancouver General Hospital. Dr. Kim earned his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. He completed his emergency medicine residency at the University of Toronto and his emergency ultrasound fellowship at Denver Health Medical Center in Colorado.

Dr. Kim is the chair of the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians (CAEP) Emergency Ultrasound Committee and is a decision editor for the Canadian Journal of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Kim has lectured nationally and internationally with a focus on emergency ultrasound and the evidence supporting its use. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers on POCUS and several textbook chapters. Dr. Kim has an interest in evidence-based POCUS, POCUS education, and expedition medicine, having been to Antarctica twice as an expedition physician.
