E. Liang Liu, MD, FACEP, FPD-AEMUS, has served as a section editor for PEERcert+ Advanced Ultrasound for the Focused Practice Designation in Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography (AEMUS) since 2025. Dr. Liu is an associate professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine and the ultrasound fellowship director at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her doctor of medicine degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and completed emergency medicine residency training and fellowship training at the University of Texas Southwestern/Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas, Texas. She is fellowship trained in emergency disaster and global health (EDGH) and emergency ultrasound.

Dr. Liu is an active member of the ultrasound community; she has served in leadership positions of national ultrasound organizations and has authored several book chapters on emergency ultrasound. Dr. Liu served as the co-chair for the ACEP EUS Residency Education Subcommittee and as a past section editor for the ACEP EUS Newsletter. For her contributions to ACEP EUS, she was awarded the ACEP Contribution to the Section Award during her tenure as co-chair. Dr. Liu is the current president-elect for the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine’s Academy of Emergency Ultrasound and the director-at-large for the Society of Clinical Ultrasound Fellowships. Dr. Liu’s interests are particularly focused on ultrasound education, educational innovations, and the development of emergency medicine worldwide.
