Senior Content Editor, PEERcert+ Advanced Ultrasound
Alexis Salerno, MD, FACEP, FPD-AEMUS, has served as a senior content editor for PEERcert+ Advanced Ultrasound for the Focused Practice Designation in Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography (AEMUS) since 2025. She is currently an associate professor of emergency medicine at the University of Maryland, where she also serves as the ultrasound division director and fellowship director. She earned her doctor of medicine degree and completed both her emergency medicine residency and ultrasound fellowship at the University of Maryland.
She recently concluded a 3-year term as co-director of the ACEP Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Committee, where she contributed to the ACEP EUS Literature Canon and the Fellow Speaker Symposium. She currently serves on the board of the Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Accreditation Council.
As a nationally recognized speaker, Dr. Salerno has received numerous honors, including the ACEP EUS Future Leader in Education Award and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine Young Educator Award. Her academic work includes multiple peer-reviewed publications and book chapters focused on point-of-care ultrasound, with particular interests in fellowship curriculum and OB/GYN ultrasound.
