Nicholas Cozzi, MD, MBA, FACEP, serves as co–course director for Practice Essentials of Emergency Medicine and is the lead author for the Reimbursement, Contracts and Practice Models, Operations, Risk Management, and Personal Finance modules. Dr. Cozzi currently serves as the EMS medical director and assistant professor of emergency medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, and also serves as an online medical control (OLMC) physician for the Fire Department of New York City. Dr. Cozzi received his medical degree from Central Michigan University College of Medicine in Mount Pleasant. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Spectrum Health, Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, where he served as chief resident, and he completed his subspecialty fellowship training in emergency medical services and out-of-hospital medicine with the Fire Department of New York City and Northwell Health.
Dr. Cozzi is passionate about the democratization of business education for emergency physicians as well as building opportunities for emergency medicine communities through growing the health care workforce of tomorrow as cofounder of the Health Careers Pipeline Program. This impactful and intentional high school program centers on health-career exposure and college readiness. Over the past 7 years, the program has graduated over 130 high school students in 37 high schools within the state of Michigan. Dr. Cozzi is also passionate about community-based lifesaving trainings, teaching Chicagoland West-Side community members accessible education in CPR, naloxone, and Stop the Bleed training.
