Routine, EHR-driven screening for HIV, HCV (Hepatitis C Virus), and HBV (Hepatitis B Virus) in Emergency Departments (EDs) across the United States is increasingly recognized as a critical public health strategy. Gilead’s FOCUS program advances healthcare systems transformation by supporting implementation of guidelines for screening and linkage to a first appointment for HIV, HCV, HBV, and comprehensive prevention services.
- CDC guidelines recommend opt-out screening for HIV and HCV in EDs, and automated prompts and opt-out workflows make screening efficient and scalable.
- HBV screening is rapidly gaining momentum as part of comprehensive infectious disease prevention.
In this fast-paced Expert Theater session, physicians will share their FOCUS implementation journey and the clinical, community, institutional, and personal motivations for embracing routine screening and linkage to care.
