Emergency physicians de-stressed and practiced belly rubbing skills Tuesday in the ACEP25 exhibit hall. “Coco” nut, a 9-year-old Irish Goldendoodle who likes to play hide-and-seek when not chasing a tennis ball,  was a willing participant in the TeamHealth-sponsored Therapy Dog Experience.

More than 250 international health care professionals traveled to Salt Lake City for ACEP25. On the first two days of the conference, speakers offered the latest in global EM and how to improve the specialty for everybody. Events in the Global Village featured an International Summit. The ACEP International Section Meeting was held Monday evening.

Are the dogs coming this year? That’s the question convention attendees asked leading up to ACEP25, and thankfully, the College delivered with pooches and pets. TeamHealth sponsored this year’s therapy dog option, which turned into one of the most popular destinations in the exhibit hall.

Good Samaritan defeated Vanderbilt to become back-to-back PEER Challenge champions Monday at ACEP25 in Salt Lake City. Five-time Jeopardy! champion and emergency physician Dr. Amy Hummel moderated the championship of the second annual single-elimination tournament, matching residency programs against each other in a showdown of clinical knowledge. Questions are from the PEER suite of products.

Expert Theaters in the ACEP Exhibit Hall on Monday featured sessions on recurrent pericarditis, opioid overdose medicine, rabies exposure, and more. Expert theaters help attendees gain insights from industry experts in engaging, education sessions. Expert theaters continue Tuesday with sessions at 7 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

With five-time Jeopardy! champion Amy Hummel serving as moderator and Exhibit Hall crowds gathered around to see who’s grasp of medical knowledge is superior in 2025, two residency programs advanced to today’s championship round of the PEER Challenge. Good Samaritan edged UT Southwestern Dallas, and Vanderbilt beat Jefferson North to move ahead. The championship round begins Monday at Noon in the Exhibit Hall. The PEER Challenge is a single elimination tournament that matches up residency programs against each other in a showdown of clinical knowledge. Each round features clinical questions from the PEER suite of board prep content.
