Innovation & Excellence in Behavioral Health & Addiction Medicine- McNamara.jpg

Dr. McNamara is an Emergency Physician working in South Lake Tahoe, CA. She completed her undergraduate and medical degrees at Cornell University and Weill Cornell Medical College and residency at NYU/Bellevue. During her residency, she received robust training in toxicology, the first driver of her interest in addiction treatment. Dr. McNamara subsequently relocated to Tahoe, where she now splits her clinical time between the Emergency Department, where she is also the clinical director for the Substance Use Navigator program, and a hospital-affiliated outpatient clinic, where she provides Addiction Medicine care.

Since starting with her Emergency Medicine group, Tahoe Emergency Physicians, in 2018, Dr. McNamara has focused on expanding ED and outpatient services for patients with substance use disorders. With support from her colleagues, Navigator team, community partners, and hospital leadership, her healthcare system is establishing an Addiction Medicine service line in 2025. Dr. McNamara is grateful to accept this award, as she knows that expanding addiction care is a passion shared by many Emergency Physicians nationwide.
