Incorporation of POC hs-cTnI in the ED for the management of suspected ACS

Sunday, September 7
Presented by: Abbott Point of Care

Speaker: Adam J. Singer, MD
Time: 11:30am – 12:15pm
Location: Exhibit Hall, Expert Theater 1

In this presentation we will briefly review the history of biomarkers used for the diagnosis of AMI.  We will then focus on the advantages of hs-cTn over contemporary troponins and the role of POC testing in the ED.

We will then present how hs-cTn POC testing is used to rapidly exclude AMI in low-risk chest pain patients allowing early discharge of patients from the ED.  Finally, we will review how hs-cTn POC testing helps identify occlusion myocardial infarctions in high-risk patients without a STEMI who would benefit from emergent revascularization.
